How to Report an Issue

If something on the platform is causing you concern — whether it is a post, a behaviour, a safety worry, or anything else — there are clear ways to report it. This page explains the options. Please use whichever feels safest and most appropriate for the situation.

Option 1: Flag a specific post

If your concern is about a specific post or topic, you can flag it directly. To do this, click the flag icon (small ribbon-shaped symbol) under the post in question. You will be asked why you are flagging it. Choose the option that fits, and add a brief explanation if you wish.

Flags go to the moderation team. Your identity is shared with the moderation team but not with the person whose post was flagged. The moderation team will respond as quickly as we are able.

Option 2: Contact the Membership Working Group

For matters that do not fit neatly into a flag, or that are broader than a single post:

Email: info@againststatelessness.com

Helpful to include in your subject line, where applicable:

  • SAFETY — if your concern relates to a member’s safety

  • CODE OF CONDUCT — if the concern relates to a breach of the Code of Conduct or Community Guidelines

  • MEMBERSHIP — if the concern relates to a membership matter (application, status, renewal, termination)

  • CONFIDENTIAL — if the matter is sensitive and you want it treated with particular care

Option 3: Contact a Co-Lead directly

For serious matters — particularly those involving safety concerns, breaches of confidentiality in the Protected Space, or concerns about the conduct of someone in a leadership position — you can write directly to one of the Movement Co-Leads. Their contact details are on the Who Runs This Platform page, or you can ask the Membership WG to forward your message.

Option 4: Send a private message on Discourse

You can also send a private message (PM) to any moderator account directly through Discourse. Click on the user’s profile and select “Message.”

What happens after you report

When we receive a report, we follow a basic process:

  1. We acknowledge your report (usually within 72 hours, often faster).

  2. We look at the situation and gather any additional information we need.

  3. We consult others if appropriate (other moderators, Co-Leads, ICG).

  4. We decide on a response and act on it.

  5. We communicate the outcome to you, to the extent we can do so without breaching others’ confidentiality.

Reports are treated confidentially. We do not share who made a report unless the reporter has agreed to be identified.

A note for impacted members

If you are an impacted member and your concern involves your safety, your identity, or the Protected Space, please know:

  • You can choose to be contacted only by an impacted member of the moderation team

  • You can ask for the matter to be handled without your name being known beyond the Co-Leads

  • You can ask for support in addition to reporting (mental health resources, safety planning, etc.) and we will help connect you with what we have

Your safety comes first. Always.
