Who Runs This Platform

This platform is run by GMAS, the Global Movement Against Statelessness. It is hosted on Discourse and operated by the Movement’s Membership Working Group, with oversight by the Movement’s Co-Leads.

Here are the people and roles currently responsible for this platform:

Co-Leads of the Movement

The Movement is co-led by Christy Chitengu and Ali Johar, both of whom have lived experience of statelessness. The Co-Leads provide overall leadership, hold final responsibility on serious matters, and are accountable to the Movement’s membership.

Interim Core Group (ICG)

The ICG is the Movement’s interim governance body. Its members come from across the statelessness field — half with lived experience of statelessness, half allies — and are responsible for driving the Movement forward during this transitional period.

Current ICG Members:

  • Sam March | Social Media Lead
  • Thandeka Chauke | Advocacy Lead
  • Sihle Nxumalo | Projects Lead
  • Tahera Hasan | Community Engagement Lead
  • Shuchi Purohit | Resource & Content Development Lead
  • Laura Goodwin | Financial Admin Lead

Platform administrators

(To be named) administrators have technical access to the Discourse platform. They are responsible for technical configuration, security, and the operational health of the platform. They are bound by the Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines, including the confidentiality rules of the Protected Space.

How decisions about the platform are made

Substantive decisions about how this platform runs — its rules, structure, and direction — are taken by the ICG, in consultation with the Movement’s membership. Operational decisions are taken by the Membership Working Group. Where decisions affect the membership, the membership is informed and, where appropriate, consulted.

The longer-term goal of the Movement is for governance to be increasingly designed and held by the membership — particularly impacted members. The way the platform is run will evolve to reflect this.
